ACTIV is a revolutionary approach to Compatibility testing. ACTIV is capable of automatically
identifying all your organisations apps, discovering their content, and testing it against any version of Windows
you choose. Since it is entirely automatic, it can save you over 95% of the time compared to Manual Testing:
How many applications can ACTIV test at once?
There is no limit. ACTIV can be programmed to test hundreds of apps at once, and will report to the
user when the testing process is complete.
How does it work?
ACTIV will scan your distribution points, SCCM, for any MSI, MST or APPV file, automatically checking them for content and identifying the applications they install. ACTIV will then install each of these applications on an actual machine (virtual or physical) that runs your chosen operating system, and verify that the application installs and executes properly.
Will I need to tell ACTIV how to test each application?
No. ACTIV will automatically install and Launch the application, and carry out the various checks to
ensure the application is installed and works properly, and does not crash.
Some of my apps are business critical, and often rely on ORACLE or other software to work correctly – how does ACTIV test these?
For your critical Apps ACTIV offers a feature called BPT (Business Process test). BPT allows you to
define your actual end-user workflow, so all the necessary applications are launched and tested together in a
way that mimics as closely as possible the actual usage by end-users.
Do I need to monitor ACTIV as it is testing?
No. ACTIV is entirely Automatic. You can even instruct ACTIV to test a very long list of apps, and leave
it running overnight.
Can ACTIV interface with my SCCM system?
Can I use ACTIV to test compatibility of device drivers, and other Hardware-specific software?
Yes. ACTIV gives users the choice of using virtual or physical devices (or a mix) for testing. By selecting
a Physical device, any Supported driver or driver combination can be tested.
What’s the idea behind the Mountain in the company logo?
The company is named after one of the mountains in the Rimo massif , one of the world’s most
inhospitable and challenging mountains. We see Rimo3 as combine the notions of a panoramic view of the
application estate with a task that has previously been hard to achieve – obtaining & maintaining that view.
